A Legacy Lives On

HIS Story Continues

The Blessed Event did not end upon Jane's death. HIS Story continues on to this day. The words Jane spoke, the dates in which she spoke them, the life lessons she taught us, and the hand-written messages she left behind—continue to be used by God at amazingly significant times in our lives. God used Jane's spoken words to infuse us with everything we needed to be able to stand strong in the midst of the most difficult of circumstances and the most vicious of lawsuits.  

In the years after Jane's passing, my husband and I were both surprised and amazed at how many times there was a direct correlation between what was happening in our current life situations, and the scriptures and/or anniversary dates of Jane's spoken messages. Amazed. There could only be one explanation—God in His great mercy allowed us to see HIS hand at work by using the anniversary dates of when Jane spoke His words of Praise, Promise, Provision and Protection, to reveal His Sovereignty and show us His unending faithfulness.

Jane's legacy and HIS story continues on.

Because of the difficult lawsuit situation we were in, we had to make equally difficult and devastating no-win decisions. Decisions where it appeared we were putting our heads in the mouth of a lion. But after much thought, wise counsel, and seeking God's direction for our lives, difficult decisions were made. We gathered the necessary courage and did what we felt was the right thing, fully understanding the decisions we made could be ruinous for us. Incredibly, what we thought was inevitable or at least had the potential to bring us financial harm, God used to amazingly protect us instead. At first, my husband and I didn't even realize what all had transpired behind the scenes in order for God's protection to happen. Once we began to understand we were humbled; we were overcome with gratitude and appreciation for God's amazing protection.

God's protecting hand freed us from one critical aspect and financial obligation, but the lawsuit filed by my sister and brother-in-law continued on. One morning, as I was reading in Jeremiah, I came to Chapter 33 and in the margins beside the chapter I had written, "Jane told me to read Jeremiah 33 on ________." What? Really? How can that be?!?

I quickly called my husband. "Honey, you aren't going to believe this!!! Guess what day Jane told me to read Jeremiah 33!!"  What?!? God's Hand freed us from the mouth of the lion and we were totally freed from a financial obligation that could have caused us great harm on the one-year anniversary of Jane telling us to read Jeremiah 33—a promise of restoration. Exactly one year to the day of Jane's last God-given promise of restoration, the unexpected and unimaginable happened and we were completely restored. One year to the day. When we finally understood how God did it and when it was done, the significance of all that happened once again took us to our knees. 

One year to the day! One year to the day of Jane's last God-given message, we witnessed the Hand of God move in a mighty way and the story of Jane's Spirit-filled legacy and HIS faithfulness continue! We have witnessed many other God-incidences that can only be described as the Hand of God intervening for such a time as this. We are so grateful for HIS faithfulness. Seeing the Hand of God work in such incredible ways has proven to us over and over again that God is indeed in control.

God's mercy and faithfulness is beyond human comprehension. I stand in awe of the great I AM.  Great and Mighty is HE!

After Jane's passing, I was given a priceless gift: Jane's well-worn NIV and KJV Bibles; her hand-written journal; other writings; and a large box of her personal mementos. What a priceless treasure trove of wisdom. I love reading Jane's thoughts in her own handwriting. Reading through her writings is like receiving messages from God all over again. Jane's devotion to her God, and her surrendered life as His servant, left a deep impression and lasting legacy in the lives of all who knew her. The incredible memories she left and life lessons she taught continue to influence our lives and the lives of countless others in the only thing that truly matters: following HIS winding footpath wherever it leads.

A legacy lives on. HIS story continues! Praise the LORD!
